Among the Antilles, the island of Cuba stands out. Not only for its size , its the largest in the Caribbean islands , but also for its beauty that praised by Cristobal Columbus since his first arrival on October 28, 1842. ‘’This is the most beautiful land that human eyes have ever seen‘’. And he was right. The beaches of CUBA stand out for being paradisiacal and full of human warmth ,in addition to climate. A special feature that remains in the memory of its visitors, is the sensation of living in a different time of the human history.
This is due to its constructions dating from the colonial era. But also to the lack of modernization , many of its cars , buses, and other articles of common use, still belong to the era of 40 years ago. The country holds other smaller islands such as the island of youth and the island of pines, in addition of 1,600 islets. The island enjoys a quite pleasant tropical climate thanks to the trade winds.
This mean that the temperature oscillates throughout the year , between 20 to 25 celsius. Like all tropical climates, there is no seasonal variation as in the north or south, wich is spring, summer ,autumn , and winter . Rather , the seasons are divided into dry and rainy. The first has a very low temperatures from November to April and during the rainy season the temperature and humidity rise.
It is important to know this ,because if you want to travel to the island of CUBA you should avoid months of rain ,although the rainfall is not high , there is a risk of successive hurricanes, especially between the months of July and November , the islands offers some security against these atmospheric phenomena to wich they are already accustomed .
Besides its exotic beaches, CUBA is also music ,tobacco and rum.Cubans carry music in their blood. On the other hand, Cuba is called the land of tobacco , since it is cultivated and harvested in several areas of the Antillean island. Even for those who dont really smoke it is curious to travel to the cocoa and tobacco plantations to see manufacturing process of this product. In Pinard el Rio , two hrs from HAVANA, the capital of the island, where the regions of growing cigars takes place.
Finally the rum industry in CUBA with more than 100 years of history. A country where sugar cane is grown and exports too. Such an ideal place to develop this spirit drink named the ‘’Bacardi ‘’brand originally created back in 1862.
La Habana
One of the attributes of HAVANA is its interesting colonial infraestructure, true architectural jewels of a city founded at the end of the 16th century and of wich hundreds of buildings are still preserved, especially in the old zone known as Old Havana.
For example , you can visit old military structures including the Morro Cabana Castle and the Royal Force too, both created at the XVI and XVII to protect the city .
Newer construction ,1929 ,is the National Capitoly of Havana , with a a neoclassical façade and a dome that resembles the American Capitoly.
But Havana is not only history , it is also fun and nightlife for wich it is recommended to visit the Tropicana with shows that remind the golden era of the city. The House of Music in Miramar also can be a good place of your choice as well as discos in hotels such as Copacabana and Comodoro hotel.
Santiago de Cuba
Along with Havana , Santiago de Cuba is one of the most important cities. In fact, this also has its historical charm, for some reason it is known as the Hero City of Cuba. Its beaches are also wonderful and you can enjoy a cuban warmth ,open and friendly. The city’s itinerary includes religious sites, such as the Santuary of the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre or historical sites, such as the Castle of San Pedro built in 17th century and the Moncada Barracks, the protagonist of Fidel Castro uprising. Also tourist sites are the Bacardi museum that maintains as memory, samples of the old properties of the Bacardi family, that founded the first and most famous distillery in the country.
Varadero
The best of Varadero are its monuments , natural parks and ecological reserves.The mysterious caves of the eye of the Megano, caves of Saturno and the caves of Bellamar attract thousands of tourist who are looking for natural spaces of impressive beauty in Cuba. Also there you can enjoy an exquisite gastronomy and interesting crafts.
Trinidad
Trinidad is one of the most charm cities in Cuba, thanks to its colonial city appearance and picturesque streets. Its a cultural city with museums of Trinidad architecture, the house of trova, and the Romantic museum. It also has an interesting old architecture that is worth visiting such as the historic center ,the main square, the convent of San Francisco and the church of the holy Trinity, and of course you could not miss the beautiful ecological reserve of Salto del Carbuni, one of largest waterfall in Cuba.
