Due to its size , it is one of the smallest muncipalities in the country, although quite populated.

The municipality Plaza de la Revolucion was born with the political-administrative division of 1976, after the Union of the old territories of Vedado, The Ramp and the Plaza, its named is due to the historic square with a tower in its center, at the base there is a monument with the figure of Jose Marti, the apostle of CUBA.This square has become the place for great demostrations called by the government.

Begun in 1953 under Batista regime , the construction of the square ended in 1959 after the triumph of the Revolution . This ice cream shop is also present in some scenes from the film ‘’Strawberry and Chocolate’’. Is the largest stablishment in Cuban society. DECORATIVE ART MUSEUM
The building that houses the museum of decorative art is really amazing. Where is the richest private collection of Maria Luisa de Revilla y Camargo, who left Cuba in 1961 and never returned. She left in one of the most beautiful hoses a remarkable collection of objects and furniture from China ,in a neoclassical style and modernist. The house was built between 1924 and 1927, renovated in the 1930s. All the decoration was done with the prestigious JANSEN of Paris.
HAVANA CENTER

This municipality that has inherited its name from the coast that marks the perimeter , in the north that previously belonged to the Marianao area. Other characteristics of HAVANA
The city of Havana has two characteristics that distinguish : the population is urban and there are more women than man . That latter is attributed by demographers tp the fact that before 1959 internal migration was predominantly female , in search for work . At the end of 1995 , the capital has 1,035,485 men and 1,141,078 women this density was the highest on the island.
The industrial sector is responsible for most of its economy : factories of cigars ,footwear ,beer soft drinks ,ice cream and other branches of food , refineries ,industrial and construction equipment. The ARROYO NARANJO muncipality arose from the political –administrative division from 1976. Due to its territorial extention, it is one of the largest in the province. There are popular neighborhoods such as: Mantilla, Parraga, Poey and others that reach the intersection of Managua and 10 de octubre .
In the area there are several centers fo the manufacture of footwear and other dayri products as well as 70 elementary schools, six of technical level and 3 of high school.
The landscape of this zone shows the ‘’green lung ‘’ of the city: the lenin park located within this perimeter a lovely recreation center to be in touch with the nature.
BOYEROS
The municipality of Boyeros is among all the areas of the city that maintains a strong contrast between urban and rural areas. In this territory is located the main airport of Cuba, Jose Marti that has suffered several changes in recent times to adapt to the needs of growing international tourism.
There is also the electronics institute , it is considered a great central education of great importance for the island’s economy. There are several units of livestock production and large areas of cultivation mainly coffee and orchards.
Site of grat meaning is the ‘’Cacahual‘’ where the mausoleum that keeps the remains of Antonio Maceo and his assistant Panchito Gomez Toro is located, both heroes of the cuban revolution.
Cerro
Before the political-administrative division of 1976,Cerro was already a neighborhood of Havana that includes area that belonged to others part of the city such as Marianao and Centro Havana.
With its structure, it has become an area with a high concentration of factories , mainly in detergents , cigarettes, constructions materials , there are also large hospitals , among others sectors.
COTORRO
The territory that today the province of Cotorro occupies, has a history of several centuries, related to the development of several roads that leads to GUINES.There is currently a significant industrial concentration: labs ,textiles, equipment and other.
Located to the south of the province of Havana , cotorro has the largest steel factory in the country ,the main economic expression of the city council. It is also an area of great livestock importance, that sometimes is favored by its proximity to the central highway.
10 de Octubre
The area of 10 de octubre , located in the center-south of the Cuban capital , is one of the most populated zones of the country and occupies the area of Luyano ,Lawton and La Vibora. Its name pays homage to the beginning of the War of indepedence in 1868 wich currently identifies the old Jesus del Monte road built in 1723 as an highway, the scene of one of the 1st protest again the Spanish colonial regime known as the rebellion of vegueros(farmers). The history of this área is liked to the both previous roads, since both allow communication between old havana and bejucal.
In this municipality there are some of the most important elevation in the capital, the famous hill , del burro ,el chaple and other neighborhoods of Lawton although it is a residential area , there are several factories including those of Cuban Steel ,manufacture machinery and equipment of great importance to the National economy, the cigar factories , food, textiles and others .
Guanabacoa
The name of this area is indigenous wich means( high place with lot of water). It is the name of a region tha by its extension is the third largest in the province. Considered one of the oldest cities in Cuba founded back in 1525 . In 1555 the island’s governor Gonzalo Perez de angulo , made it the capital before the attack of the French privateer Jacques de Sores, although this appointment was short-lived.
In 1762 the conquest of Havana by the english regime took place . History also reports that Don Mariano Marti father of the Cuban Apostle , Jose Marti worked as a guard in this area. It was also here where Jose Marti gave his first public speech on school literature and art. Its economy is mainly in the industrial branch.
Habana del Este
Due to its size , it is the largest municipality in the province of Havana. Although it is among the 5 with the smallest population. It is basically a residential area and its main economic activities focus on housing construction , tourist development on the north coast , as well as plans for agro-livestock, amomg others . In this zone back in the 70s , a program of housing construction projects know as ‘’microbrigades’’ started, made up of workers from different professions , who later went to occupy these houses.here is the District of Alamar designed for 150,000 this Havana has natural resources ,especially the beauty of its beaches such as Guanabo and Santa Maria.
La Lisa
The area of La Lisa , located in the west of the capital ,had longs uninhabited zones , where new residential and production areas were built something that has transformed it into an important industrial site. Traditionally , in this neighborhood there was a heterogeneus situation , since there were areas with large concentration of houses and populated but widely space between them. Among its main economic activities are glass manufacturing and mechanical production for the sugar and furniture industry .
La Lisa focuses today on new research and production centers in the biotechnology industry. In its territory ,in the area of Guatao there is the research institute of the food industry. Built with external financing and where studies on food technology are carried out.
Marianao
The zone of Marianao is one of the oldest centers of urbanization and growth in most of the metropolitan area. Its name comes from the Mayanabo word , Indian origin , meaning small rivers and great mountain . The town hall was created in 187.
This territory had an economic boom and a large number of population due to its proximity to the capital of the country. That was later separatedby the Almendares river. The only zone that has sugar factory. In addition there are important textile industries of paper, tobacco, mechanical biotechnology and hospitals among others.
Regla
To get to Regla there are two roads , one land and the other maritime, although it is undoubtedly the most desire ,sometimes the favorite one by its residents and even those who occasionally visit this area. In fact this makes it a city hall of the Cuban capital that is located on the opposite coast from Havana along with its port. Its location across the sea long ago gave rise to the ‘’Regla ‘’ boats. In the early history of the town of Regla was linked to a church built there in 1867 it became the temple of the Virgin of Regla or Yemaya according to the African cults of the african slaves brought from Africa to Cuba in the 16th century.
Its connection with the sea transform it into an industrialized peninsula with the presence of finishing terminal, an oil refinery a fertilizer factory , flour mills and with the largest area of the port , with a large voume of goods.
San Miguel del Padrón
It is located almost in the center of Havana and by population it occupies the 6th place among the 15 municipalities of the province. Among its main districts are San Miguel del Padron ,wich is the municipal seat, Alturas de Luyano, San Francisco de Paula, North Carolina and the working class neighborhoods and other urban areas. It has branches in the food, mechanical, soap, and perfume industries among others.
There is also the Cuban Institute for research of sugar cane and derivates. The área was for many years the residence of the famous north american writer Ernest Heminwguay, wich now still have the name of the house-museum locate in the Vigia farm where the autor of the Kilimanjaro snows lived and the old mman and the sea and other many works.
